Cards Quadruple Pleasure To Earn Split With TVcc

The North Idaho Cardinals smacked four home runs, two in the second inning, to beat host Treasure Valley CC 11-4 in the first game of a Region 18 doubleheader at Ontario, Ore.

In the second game, the Chukars rebounded for a 4-3 win behind two hits, including a homer from Brandon Ray.

In the opener, the Cardinals scoring six runs in the second inning. Evan Metz belted a three-run homer and Mark Collins had a two-run blast in the inning.

Jeremy Mort and Tristan Fike added two-run homers in the seventh and eighth, respectively.

Steve Schorzman recorded the win, while Scott Skolrud took the loss.

In the nightcap, the Cardinals took an early 2-0 lead before TVCC started rolling in the fourth.

Dan Striker earned the win, while Mark Nelson took the loss.

Catcher John McAninch belted two homers as the Lewis-Clark State Warriors beat the visiting Whitworth Pirates in a non-league game at Lewiston.

The Pirates (6-6-1) scored two runs in the top of the first, but the Warriors (27-5) countered with three runs in the third and never faltered.

Matt Wagner (6-0) recorded the win, striking out eight, while Billy Wark (2-2) took the loss.

McAninch was 2 for 3 with five RBIs, including a sacrifice fly in the first, a three-run homer in the third and a solo shot in the fifth.

Pirate Don O’Neal went 4 for 5 with a homer and two RBIs.

The same teams meet again this afternoon in Lewiston.
