Ads Urge Prosecution Of Federal Agents
A series of radio ads airing in North Idaho call Randy Weaver a patriot and urge Boundary County Prosecutor Randall Day to bring charges against the federal snipers who shot Weaver’s wife and son.
The ads, which began running Monday on four radio stations in Sandpoint and Bonners Ferry, are paid for by a group called the Weaver Justice Alliance of Atwood, Calif.
“If government agents killed your wife and child, to whom would you turn for justice? The answer lies with the Boundary County prosecutor,” the ad says.
The commercials feature rifle shots in the background as sound effects.
A deputy U.S. marshal and Weaver’s wife Vicki and son Sam all were killed during an 11-day siege of Weaver’s cabin by federal agents in August of 1992. Weaver had been wanted for failure to appear on a firearms charge. He was later acquitted of murder and conspiracy charges.
The group was formed three months ago in protest of the level of disciplinary action federal agents received following a lengthy Justice Department investigation.
