Ex-Representative To Run Tribal Housing
The Coeur d’Alene Tribe has hired former Democratic state Rep. Gino White to run its housing program.
The eight-employee housing authority manages 260 tribal homes and apartments for the tribe. The homes, built with federal housing grants, are sprinkled throughout Plummer, Worley and DeSmet. White’s office also administers the Kootenai Indian tribe’s small housing program.
This year, the housing authority has applied for funding for 44 homes and apartments near Worley.
White, 31, served four terms in the state House of Representatives until he was defeated in November by Republican challenger Don Pischner. White and his family live in Plummer.
White is a former real estate agent working on his master’s degree. He said Monday he’s not sure whether he’ll run for office again.
“I’m just happy to be here,” he said.
