Brock Rogers East Valley Year: Senior Sport: Baseball Position: First Base

East Valley senior Brock Rogers is hitting the ball like Buck Rogers early on in this Frontier League baseball season.

After the Knights’ first three games, Rogers is 10 for 15 at the plate with nine RBIs and two home runs.

In a doubleheader at West Valley on Saturday, Rogers was 7 for 11 with eight RBIs. He hit the two homers in the third inning of the second game. The Knights won 12-10 and 25-10.

In EV’s 14-11 win against Cheney on Tuesday, Rogers was 3 for 4 and drove in a run.

“The ball just seems like it’s floating across the plate like a balloon,” he said.

Rogers attributes his success to the fact that the Knights are having fun and are eager to win.

“It seems like we’re all hitting the ball real well,” Rogers said. “This is the best team East Valley has had in a long time.”

Before the season, Rogers, who plays first base, spent as much time as he could in area batting cages.

“This year is more fun than any year I’ve ever had before,” he said.

And if Rogers and the Knights keep playing at this rate, they’ll have many more laughs together as the season moves on.
