Algeria Claims Security Better
Algerian forces are making gains against armed extremists and security in the North African country is improving every day, Algeria’s foreign minister said Thursday.
Mohammed Saleh Dembri, who is on a three-day visit to London, said Islamic extremists continue to carry out attacks, but they have been forced to change their techniques because they no longer hold the territory they did.
More and more Algerians are also deserting from armed opposition groups, he said.
Dembri said Algeria plans to hold presidential elections at the end of the year and will invite international observers to monitor the voting.
