Player Granted Waiver

Felipe Lopez of St. John’s, was granted a waiver by the NCAA and will not be penalized for playing in two games in the Dominican Republic.

The games were tryouts for the Dominican Republic national team. In a related decision, the NCAA waived its outside competition rule, allowing Lopez to compete in the Central American Games this summer.

Lopez averaged 17.8 points in his first season at St. John’s and tied Chris Mullin’s freshman scoring record with 498 points.
