Wind Or Not, Cup Halted

The America’s Cup came up with another distinction when one race was postponed because the wind was blowing too hard and the second race was called off when the wind dropped to practically nothing.

It was the first time since multiple challenges began in 1970 that such extremes have visited the race courses on the same day.

Both races were rescheduled for today.

Black Magic 1 of New Zealand leads its best-of-9 challenger series 4-1 and needs one more victory to clinch a spot in the America’s Cup finals.

The Mighty Mary-Young America winner will take the lead in the three-boat defender finals. Currently, Mighty Mary, Young America and Stars & Stripes have three points apiece.
