Stolen Car Explodes Near Tourist Site

Associated Press

A stolen car being moved from near a prominent tourist site exploded Friday, killing a tow truck driver who may have foiled a major terrorist attack.

Initial reports suggested the explosion resulted from a time-bomb.

Police said the car was parked across from Hagia Sophia, a 6th century Byzantine cathedral that is now a mosque and museum. The area was filled with tourists and city residents.
