Consistent Davies Wins

Compiled From Wire Services

Laura Davies had an eagle and three birdies on the front nine and pulled away to a record-breaking four-stroke victory over Kelly Robbins in the LPGA Chickfil-A Charity Classic.

Davies had her third consecutive 5-under-par 67 and finished the rainplagued tournament at 15-under, four shots better than Dottie Mochrie’s 1992 54-hole record.

Robbins had a final-round 66.

Thunderstorms, which caused delays totaling 6 hours, 45 minutes over the first two rounds, held off for most of the final round. The only delay was for 23 minutes after an LPGA official saw lightning. Davies was at the 16th hole during the short delay.

Seventy-two players, including Davies, had to return early to complete their second rounds before playing their final rounds.
