Forum Will Discuss Local Government Role

The Spokesman-Review will host a town hall meeting to discuss the role of local government from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at West Valley High School, 8301 E. Buckeye.

Members of the public are invited to share their ideas on the services they expect local government to deliver and the methods and attitudes that ought to be part of the local-government process.

County Commissioner Phil Williams and Freeholder Judi Williams have agreed to participate in the community discussion, which will be moderated by Doug Floyd, The Spokesman-Review’s interactive editor.

Although we are holding this forum at a time when Spokane County is considering several revisions in the structure of local government, the purpose is not to debate those options. Instead, we hope to identify what people expect of their local government, whichever revision becomes a reality.
