Regulars Share Pro-Junior Lead

Their names appear regularly on the leaderboard at Washington Trust Bank Pro-Am golf tournaments, and they were there again Monday in the Pro-Junior at Indian Canyon.

Mark Gardner, the pro at The Creek at Qualchan; Chris Mitchell, head man at Sun Dance; and Mark Rohde, who owns his own golf studio, put together 6-under-par 66s.

Gardner had identical nines of 33, Mitchell went 31-35 and Rohde 34-32 to edge Ron Barker of Ritzville (33-34) by a stroke for pro honors.

Twelve of the 53 pros broke par.

Three of the 155 juniors broke par, led by Josh Sicilia, playing out of Rohde’s Golf Studio, who had a 35-35-70 in 15-17 boys’ division.

Michael Hastings, 14, of Manito, used his fifth career hole-in-one for a 36-35-71 and Kyle Kelly of Qualchan shot 37-34-71. Hastings aced his pitching wedge on the 105-yard 11th hole.

Best girls’ score was turned in by Hillary Prugh of Manito, a 41-41-82, to lead the 15-17-year-olds.
