Lakes To Be Treated
The Washington Fish and Wildlife Department will use 90,000 pounds of the organic chemical rotenone to treat Williams and Badger lakes Oct. 4-5, fishery biologist Bob Peck said.
Williams has growing populations of tench, smallmouth bass and speckled dace. Badger has a big population of smallmouth bass and large numbers of dace.
Treating the lakes to kill these fish will cost $145,000.
The department has removed fishing limits on trout at the lakes to remove as many gamefish as possible before the lakes are treated. Next spring, the lakes will be restocked with trout.
