Sherrill Cleared

Despite knowledge of possible NCAA rules violations, Mississippi State football coach Jackie Sherrill wasn’t implicated in any wrongdoing in an NCAA letter of inquiry made public Tuesday.

The 15-page inquiry said Sherrill knew of at least one occasion when a former graduate assistant made improper contact with a prospective athlete, and that the coach was advised of the possibility that a booster was paying players for work they never did.

Sherrill could not be reached for comment.
