Hallmark Lifts Indians To Win

Patrick Hallmark hit a solo home run in the top of the 10th inning, lifting the Spokane Indians to a 2-1 victory over the Everett AquaSox in Northwest League baseball on Wednesday.

The victory was the third straight for the Indians - tying their best winning streak of the season - and also was Spokane’s first win in Everett since 1993.

Spokane took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Mark Quinn smacked a solo homer, his first of the year, off Tim Trawick.

Everett answered with a run in the fifth inning off Jeremy Williamson when Luis Tinoco homered over the right-field fence.

Williamson lasted six innings, allowing just two hits and a walk while striking out eight. He was replaced by Jose Santiago (2-2), who pitched the final four innings to earn the win.

Williamson and Santiago combined to retire 13 straight Everett batters after Williamson’s homer.

With one out in the 10th, Hallmark homered over the left-center field fence, his third of the year, to put Spokane up 2-1.

Everett threatened in the bottom of the 10th when Matt Sachse singled with one out to put runners at the corners. But Cy Simonton bounced into a 5-3 double play to end the game.

The two teams meet again tonight at 7:05, with right-hander Modesto Villareal (4-2) of Spokane pitching against lefty Todd Niemeier (3-2).
