Rinck Singles M&L; To Win

Jeff Rinck singled up the middle to score John Barneson in the seventh inning as M&L Construction stayed alive Thursday at the American Legion State Baseball Playoffs in Yakima with a 5-4 victory over Enumclaw’s South End Heating.

M&L is scheduled to play this afternoon at 4. M&L’s opponent will be the loser of Thursday night’s game between Lakeside of Bellevue and Yakima, a game held up by rain.

Thursday’s win included a three-run fifth in which Barneson and D.J. Funk had RBI singles.

Golf

Hillary Prugh of Spokane struggled to a third-round 91 at the Colorado Junior Roundup in Westminster, Colo., losing 11 strokes to leader Rheba Mabie of Boulder Junction, Wis.

Mabie shot 80 and is at 233. Prugh stands at 256.

Ben Holt posted his best score in three rounds of the boys competition, a 76 that left the Spokane golfer at 241.

Andy Doeden of Fargo, N.D., is at 215 and leads by eight strokes.
