M&L; Knocked Out, 19-9

Burke Eathorne and Ryan Luther each had three hits and four RBIs as Bellevue came from behind for a 19-9 victory over M&L Construction, eliminating the Spokane baseball team from the American Legion State Playoffs in Yakima.

Matt Oden had two hits for M&L, which scored five runs in the third inning for a 5-4 lead, and stretched it to 7-4 in the fourth. Bellevue scored six runs in the fourth inning and five in the fifth.

In other games Friday night at Parker Field, Yakima ripped Skagit 18-3 in the winners’ bracket, while Everett eliminated Wenatchee 8-2.

Yakima plays Everett in tonight’s late game, which is preceded at 4 p.m. by the Bellevue-Skagit loserout game.

Golf

Brian Nosler of Lake Oswego, Ore., won the 41st Pacific Northwest Golf Association Junior Boys Championship in Billings with a 1-up victory over Micahel Parrott of Portland.

Nosler, 16, won the 36th and final hole on the 6,690-yard Yellowstone Country Club course with a conceded birdie, hitting a wedge within 3 feet. Parrott hit to 30 feet, put his birdie putt 6 feet past, and missed again.

Andy Hastings of Spokane won the first flight, defeating Ryan Whitaker of Cle Elum, Wash., 1-up. Danny Potter of Coeur d’Alene defeated Carson Rasmussen of Seattle, 4 and 2, in the sixth flight.

Spokane’s Reid Hatley and Craig Leslie also competed, Hatley winning his 10th-flight match while Leslie lost in the 15th flight.
