Carter Pleads Innocent

Compiled From Wire Services

A second former Idaho State University football player pleaded innocent to two counts of statutory rape.

Sam Carter, 21, faces a maximum penalty of life in prison on the felony charges involving two 14-year-old girls.

Sixth District Judge Peter McDermott released Carter on his on recognizance pending trials of Nov. 16 and Nov. 28 on the charges issued by a Bannock County grand jury last month.

The indictment also accused senior linebacker Ike Johnson, 22, and junior running back Thomas Washington, 21, of single counts of statutory rape and Derrick Carter, 22, no relation to Sam Carter, of two counts of statutory rape.
