Man Accused In Officer’s Assault

From Staff And Wire Reports

Police arrested a man suspected of fleeing from the parking lot of a Coeur d’Alene fast-food store Saturday afternoon after assaulting an Idaho State Police officer.

Coeur d’Alene police arrested Donald Ray about 6:40 p.m. after chasing him on foot, three hours after the assault.

The ISP officer said he pulled over Ray’s silver, Dodge 2-door at Zip’s on Sherman Avenue for a minor traffic violation.

Ray, 33, of Coeur d’Alene, gave the officer a false name, police said. When the officer tried to arrest him, Ray assaulted him and ran north toward Coeur d’Alene Avenue, the ISP said.

The ISP said Ray is also wanted for probation violations in Oregon.
