One U.S. Team Goes Down

Teams from hockey country - Arden Hills, Minn., and Toronto - were swept out of title contention at the Little League World Series.

A team from the Central region has not reached the final since 1972, and a Canadian team last played in one in 1965.

Toms River, N.J., defeated Arden Hills 11-4, the Dominican Republic defeated Canada 7-2, Taiwan beat Saudi Arabia 12-0 and Spring, Texas, topped Yorba Linda, Calif., 8-2.

At 2-0, Taiwan is assured a spot in the international final Thursday, and Spring is guaranteed an appearance in the U.S. title game.
