Walker To Be Sentenced

Compiled From Wire Services

Sentencing will be Sept. 20 for former Boise State basketball player Bernard Walker, who pleaded guilty to forging a signature on a credit card to buy $337 worth of merchandise.

Walker, 22, pleaded innocent and trial was scheduled to start Monday. But he changed his plea and admitted one count of forgery. A second count was dropped.

At Boston, 24-year-old Reginald Howard, an acquaintance of slain Cleveland State basketball star Jamal Jackson, was ordered held on $500,000 bail in connection with Jackson’s death.

Howard is the cousin of Jackson’s girlfriend, 26-year-old Traci Washington.

Alcohol contributed to the June automobile accident that killed two Jackson State University baseball players and another man, test results show.

Killed in the June 3 wreck were Henry Wallace III, 21, and Shone Taylor, 25, both of Jackson, and Willie James III, 21, of Belzoni. Two other men, Jamel McAdory, 21, and LaMarcus Byrd, 21, both of Jackson, were injured. All except Taylor were players on the Jackson State baseball team.
