Charlie Hayes didn’t give Rudy Seanez a chance.

Hayes’ home run off Seanez in the 11th gave Philadelphia a 7-6 win over Los Angeles Thursday.

Hayes came to the plate against reliever Pedro Astacio right after Astacio had been hit in the knee by Daulton’s grounder. Astacio threw one pitch to Hayes and left the game with two outs.

Seanez (1-3), the seventh Los Angeles pitcher, warmed up for about 10 minutes before throwing a slider for ball two. Hayes, who was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, hit the next pitch over the center-field fence for his 10th homer.

Clearing the bases

National League president Len Coleman upheld the recent forfeit at Dodger Stadium, saying fans created “sufficient danger” by pelting the field with souvenir baseballs, giving the Aug. 10 game to the St. Louis Cardinals by a 2-1 score…. San Diego’s Tony Gwynn escaped injury when a taxi in which he was riding to Shea Stadium hit a pothole and lost one of its axles…. The Montreal Expos have won just four of their last 18 games at home.
