Jensen Wins Pga Section; Rhode Fifth
Randy Jensen of Allyn, Wash., won a four-way playoff to capture the Pacific Northwest Section PGA championship Thursday at Eagle Bend Golf Club.
Jensen earned $5,000 for the win after posting a 54-hole total of 6-under-par 210. Also at 210 were Jeff Tachell of Snoqualmie, Wash., Steve Bowen of Vancouver, Wash., and Bart Turchin of Federal Way, Wash. Bowen and Turchin were eliminated on the first playoff hole.
Jensen and Tachell tied the next two holes. It ended on No. 4 when Jensen parred and Tachell took a bogey.
Mark Rhode closed with a 70 to finish fifth at 211. Rhode is from Valley View Golf Course, near Liberty Lake.
Chris Mitchell of Spokane’s Sundance Golf Course set the course record with a 65 in the first round at the par-72, 6,724-yard course. He faded into an 11th-place tie by finishing 74-75.
