Warrant Issued After Racial Harassment

From Staff And Wire Reports

An arrest warrant has been issued for a man accused of threatening the president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People chapter in Idaho Falls because of his race.

The suspect, Danny DePriest, formerly of Moses Lake, Wash., apparently has left the Idaho Falls area. His whereabouts and hometown were unknown Friday.

DePriest, also known as Danny Parrish, was charged with malicious harassment for allegedly taunting Americus-John Lewis on July 20.

According to witness statements in a sheriff’s report, DePriest was in a van with two other men who pulled alongside Lewis while he was riding bicycles with a friend. DePriest leaned out the passenger window, used a racial slur and threatened to kill Lewis while following alongside him, reports said.

The two other men in the van were not charged because they made no threats and are likely to be witnesses in the case, Bonneville County Prosecutor David Johnson said.
