Family Of Dead Girl Settles Burial Dispute
The family of 5-year-old Ashley Ann McQuillan, who was suffocated Thanksgiving day allegedly by her grandmother, has agreed to bury the child in Boise.
Perry Zeyer of the Relyea Funeral Chapel said the girl’s parents sat down and resolved their dispute over where the slain girl should be buried.
A graveside service and burial was scheduled for today.
Susan Kathleen Stovern, 42, has been jailed without bond on a charge of first-degree murder in Ashley’s death and attempted murder of her sister, Alexandria, 3.
Authorities also filed two new attempted murder charges on Thursday, accusing Stovern of drugging the girls’ brothers, Christopher, 4, and Sean Mathew, 18 months.
The coronor’s office determined that the children had traces of Valium in their systems.
Stovern, who faces a preliminary hearing next Thursday, had guardianship of the four children since their parents broke up two years ago. Neighbors said Stovern feared her ex-son-in-law would try to take the children away.
Ashley’s father, Phillip Eugene McQuillan of Kissimmee, Fla., filed a petition to take the body back to Florida while her mother, Jennifer Ann Cordingley of Boise, demanded that the child be buried in Idaho.
