Worley Man Arrested On Charges Of Rape

Kootenai County sheriff’s deputies arrested a Worley man Thursday morning on charges he raped a woman while she slept in bed next to her husband.

The 22-year-old woman and her husband invited Terry M. Devier to their home for drinks Wednesday night, according to a sheriff’s report. Devier works with the woman’s husband.

Devier had a large quantity of rum and Coke and then left their home late Wednesday. He returned awhile later, saying his car went into a ditch.

The woman’s husband told Devier he could sleep on the living room couch, according to the sheriff’s report. The couple then went to bed in another room.

The woman told sheriff’s deputies she was awakened later, thinking her husband was having sex with her. She then realized it was Devier.

She woke up her husband, who then got into a fight with Devier.

Not having a phone at their home, the couple went to the husband’s employer’s home to call the sheriff’s department.

Devier first was taken to the hospital for injuries suffered in the fight. He then was taken to jail.
