Fire At Cannery Was Training Drill
Firefighters on Saturday finished a job started by trespassers last summer at the old juice cannery building by Treaty Rock in Post Falls.
The old warehouse structure was burned to the ground as volunteer firefighters practiced their skills Saturday morning.
Billowing smoke from the fire could be seen from Coeur d’Alene.
“We did some fire attack, and fire behavior training,” said deputy Post Falls Fire Chief Don McNett.
The firefighters would knock down the flames and then allow them to rekindle, “so everybody gets a good chance to work with a live fire,” McNett said.
Some firefighters also entered the burning building. No one was injured.
The owner of the property allowed the fire department to use the building for practice after a suspicious fire damaged it last summer.
