Thursday Shows Continue To Dominate Nielsen Ratings

NBC’s powerhouse Thursday lineup continued its reign in the ratings, with “ER” coming in first, “Seinfeld” second, “Caroline in the City” third, “Friends” fifth and “The Single Guy” seventh.

For the week of Dec. 4-10, ABC was the winner in prime time overall with an 11 rating and 18 share, Nielsen Media Research said Tuesday. NBC had a 10.7 rating and 17 share. Third-ranked CBS logged a 9.4 rating and 15 share.

One ratings point equals 959,000 TV households. Share is the percentage of in-use TV sets tuned to a particular broadcast.

Following are the prime-time ratings as compiled by Nielsen Media Research for Dec. 4-10. Top 20 listings include the week’s ranking, with rating for the week, season-to-date rankings in parentheses, and total homes.

An “X” in parentheses denotes one-time-only presentation.
