Churches Will Join In Prayer

Joe Ehrbar Correspondent

Spokane-area churches will join together for a special purpose at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, 203 E. Third.

The reason?

The monthly City-Wide Concert of Prayer, a rally for Christians of all denominations and all traditions.

The Concert Of Prayer is to facilitate a spiritual awakening in the city and country, and to pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, church revival and world evangelization, said the Rev. C.W. Andrews, who, with the Rev. William Sterling, will lead the 1-1/2-hour event.

Concert Of Prayer is part of a worldwide prayer movement, which also includes Pastors Prayer Summits, March for Jesus and the National Day of Prayer.

For more information, call Andrews at 747-8793.

Blue Christmas service

Manito United Methodist Church, 33rd and Grand, will again host its Blue Christmas, or Longest Night Service, at 7:30 p.m., Thursday.

The public service is to uplift people who are in mourning and struggling over personal loss, broken relationships, isolation, ill health, unemployment…

New director

Messiah Lutheran Church, 4202 N. Belt, has appointed Floyd Czoski, a Chicago native, as director of music ministries and Christian education.

Czoski moved to Spokane a year ago with his wife Kathleen, a cellist in the Spokane Symphony, and their two daughters. He is sub-dean of the Spokane Chapter of the American Guild of Organists.

In Chicago, Czoski worked 24 years as a Christian education director for several churches.

On Sunday, Czoski and Patty Arthur will co-direct “Twinkle and the All-Star Angel Band” for Messiah Lutheran’s annual Sunday School Christmas Program. The 4 p.m. concert will be followed by a potluck dinner.
