Whitworth, fighting to break a six-game losing streak, faded down the stretch Friday night in a 59-52 women’s basketball loss to visiting Carroll.
The Pirates (1-7) led 42-38 with 8:23 to play, but scored only two points in the next 5 minutes as Carroll went to work inside behind 6-foot center Allison George, who scored eight of her 21 points in the last 4 minutes.
Whitworth post Sheri Northington scored 21. Catherine Mason added 14 as the only other Pirate in double figures.

CCS was just 2-10 from 3-point range, but the Sasquatch outrebounded the Clippers 29-25.
