Jimmy Stewart Suffers Minor Injury In Fall

Jimmy Stewart suffered a minor head injury when he tripped and fell in his home and he stayed in a hospital Friday for observation, spokesmen said.

The veteran actor was OK and was expected to be sent home today from St. John’s Hospital in Santa Monica, said longtime publicist John Strauss.

“When you’re 87 years old you take a little more care of yourself than when you’re 27 years old,” Strauss said.

The fall occurred late Thursday in Stewart’s Beverly Hills home.

“Somebody sent him a plant and he didn’t know it was there. Apparently he tripped over it and hit his head on a table leg,” Strauss said. “But he’s fine.”
