Loose talk

Model Carre Otis, who dropped domestic violence charges against actor hubby Mickey Rourke (in Mirabella magazine): “Whenever there is suffering, there’s growth. Whether there was physical or verbal abuse, it’a a question of how much I learned.”

When 13-year-old Jennifer Shuman of Charleston, W.Va., looked at the registration papers for her new horse, Charlie, she noticed the former owner was one Paul Newman.

So she wrote to the address listed and asked: “Are you the salad dressing guy or just somebody with the same name?”

Three days later, the Oscar-winning actor and food-products entrepreneur called her home

“Here I am knee-deep in laundry and Paul Newman’s on the phone,” said Jennifer’s mother, Becky Shuman.

Jennifer and Newman spent several minutes talking about the horse, which he had named Top View.

But she has no plans to see her new pal’s new film, “Nobody’s Fool.” Explained Jennifer: “I’m not allowed. It’s rated R.”

Pretty soon she’ll have a child for every year

Mia Farrow turns 50 today.

It’s no wonder he’s been so productive lately

Woody Allen, discussing his craft in Cosmpolitan magazine: “The only value of a film is the diversion of doing it. I’m so involved figuring out the second act, I don’t have to think about life’s terrible anxieties. The value it has to other people is that it gives them an hour and a half of enjoyment in the movie theater. It becomes THEIR distraction.”

Sounds like Dr. Crane does more than just listen

The girl Kelsey Grammer is accused of having sex with when she was 15 years old reportedly has 22 sexually suggestive phone messages left by the “Frasier” star during a two-month period in 1993. Her attorney says she saved the tapes because “they were precious to her.”

Maybe Mickey Rourke could make horse noises

Grammer will be joined by Richard Dreyfuss and Stacy Keach in a British radio version of Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar” to be aired on Feb. 26. While the BBC couldn’t afford to pay their standard fees, a spokesman said: “They all seemed to think it would add to their respectability as actors.”

There must be a divinity that shapes his end

Among the reviews Keanu Reeves has received for his performance in a Canadian production of “Hamlet”: “Reeves said all the words in the right order” - Toronto Star; “When he says he can drink hot blood, he’s convincing” - Winnipeg Free Press; “He does look great in tights” - Toronto Globe and Mail.

We’re looking forward to their next 100 episodes

Finally, this just in: Jerry Seinfeld and teen throb Shoshanna Lonstein, who broke up last fall following some less than pleasant scenes, have decided to give it another try.
