Public Radio Jazzed Up About Music, Video Sale

Music-related memorabilia to buy, a listening center and a jazz brunch at Hobart’s Restaurant in Cavanaugh’s Fourth Avenue hotel will be featured during KPBX-FM’s fifth-annual Recordings and Videos Sale next weekend, Feb. 25-26.

The Pam Meyer/Steve Hall Duo will play during the brunch, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The sale of both new and used compact discs, records, videos and audio tapes will be donated by individuals and businesses. Selections will include classical, jazz, folk, blues, rock, opera, contemporary, comedy, books on tapes and more.

All proceeds will benefit the listener-supported public radio station.

Saturday’s hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday’s from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Auditions:

The Spokane Children’s Theatre will hold auditions for “Jack and the Beanstalk” at 5 p.m. Feb. 26 and at 7 p.m. Feb. 27 in St. Aloysius School, E611 Mission.

Needed are eight men and women; six actors from age 12 through adult; one teenage boy; and one tall adult man. Auditioners should prepare a one-minute song. An accompanist will be provided, but bring along your sheet music.

Valley Repertory Theatre will hold auditions for “Angry Housewives” at 7 p.m. March 6-7 at its facility on the southwest corner of Sprague and Pines.

Director Jodine Watson needs singers and dancers: women, 25 years and older; two men, 25 and older; and one young man to appear between 16 and 18 years old. Contract Valley Rep at 927-6878.

Eastern Washington University’s theater department will hold open auditions for “Rehearsal for Murder” March 13-14.

There are roles for nine men and seven women. R. Boyd Devin, chairman of EWU’s theater department, will direct.

Auditions will be 3-5 p.m., Monday, March 13; and 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m., Tuesday, March 14, in Room 201 of the campus theater. For more information, call 359-2459.
