Seattle Center Renamed

Compiled From Wire Services

When the renovated Seattle Center Coliseum opens next fall, it will have a new name: The Key Arena Center at Seattle Center.

City officials announced the change after Key Bank of Washington agreed to be primary sponsor of the $74 million project, due for completion in October.

The Cleveland-based bank got naming rights after it agreed to pay the city $15 million over 15 years, starting with a firstyear payment of $750,000.

The building that will replace the Boston Garden no longer has a name.

The new home of the Boston Celtics and Boston Bruins had been dubbed the Shawmut Center. But the bank for which it was named will be bought by Fleet Financial Group Inc.
