Local Students Named To President’s List
The following local students have been named to the President’s List at their college or university for the fall semester:
Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind.: Albert Stong, Spokane; and Christine Miller, West Richland.
Texas Tech University, Lubbock: Bonnie Balyeat, Spokane.
Seattle University: Katherine Anselmo, Spokane, earned a 4.0 grade-point average.
University of San Francisco: Sara Gigliotti, Davenport, Wash., named to the Athletic Director’s Academic Honor Roll.
Clarence Barnes, dean of the Gonzaga University School of Business Administration, was recently appointed president of the Western Association of Collegiate Schools of Business. Schools from 12 Western states and British Columbia are members of the organization.
The association’s primary responsibilities are to review academic matters, such as the business curriculum relative to national and global business trends; cultural diversity among faculty and constituents; faculty credentials and scholarship; continuous improvement in teaching and professional development; and budgetary matters common among academic deans. The organization also looks into more effective management of business schools and provides a forum from the Western deans to play a major role in the national organization. Chipman Moving & Storage,
Spokane, was named runner-up in the United Van Lines Agent of the Month program.
Kate Kuhlman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Bingenheimer, Otis Orchards, was named Miss Teen Otis Orchards. She is 17 years old and a senior at East Valley High School.
The Masonic Temple Association has elected the following officers:
Frank Conklin, president; Travis Prewitt, vice president; Betty Chamberlain, secretary; and Eric Berman, treasurer.
Greg Preuss, an associate of the Scott Schuldt Agency in Spokane, and with Aid Association for Lutherans for 18 years, has been approved as a life member of the 1995 Million Dollar Round Table. He has been a member of MDRT for 19 years.
Two Gonzaga University students are candidates for a national college theater competition and award, the Irene Ryan Award. Alison Letson, a senior theater arts major, and Kenneth Bailes, a junior psychology major, will compete at this year’s Northwest Drama Conference in Eugene, Ore.
