New Year Brings New Rules For Sturgeon Fishing On Columbia

From Staff And Wire Reports

The new year will bring new restrictions for Columbia River sturgeon fishermen.

In order to maintain a viable sturgeon population, the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife plans to close the river above Bonneville Dam for a portion of the year to anglers who catch and keep the fish.

The exact dates of the closure are to be set by Fish and Wildlife Commission during a meeting Jan. 25.
