Florence Young Spokane

Memorial service for Florence G. Young is planned for 10 a.m. today at Riplinger Funeral Home.

Mrs. Young, 80, died Monday. Born in Polson, Mont., she moved to Spokane 40 years ago.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Thomas Young, at the home; three sons, Edgar Young of Puyallup, Wash., and Thomas Young and Jeffery Young, both of Spokane; two daughters, Diane Grantham of Spokane and Joan Rhoades of Post Falls; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Tressie Fleisher Davenport, Wash.

Memorial service for Tressie Fleisher, 88, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Davenport Presbyterian Church. Strate Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Fleisher died Sunday. Born in Camas Prairie, Idaho, she moved to Davenport many years ago.

She married William Fleisher in 1930. He died in 1990.

Mrs. Fleisher was a homemaker and a member of the Davenport Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, John Fleisher of Spokane; five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

H.S. ‘Buck’ Hudgins St. Maries

Memorial service for H.S. “Buck” Hudgins will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the St. Maries Eagles Lodge.

Yates-Hodge Funeral Home in St. Maries is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hudgins, 71, died Tuesday. He was born and raised in Meridian, Idaho, and attended Kuna High School.

He enlisted in the Army and served in France, returning to Nampa, Idaho, after his discharge.

He married Marjorie M. Young in 1946 and they made their home in Nampa.

In 1956 the Hudgins moved to Clarkia, Idaho, where he worked as a truck driver-mechanic. They moved to St. Maries in 1965.

He retired as a shop supervisor for Potlatch Northern Units in 1981.

Survivors include his wife, at the home; two sons, Mike Hudgins of Eddyville, Ore., and Patrick Hudgins of Spokane; five daughters, Lynda Hawkins of Manitou Beach, Mich., Rita Smith of Clarkston, Wash., Vicki Hanson of Franzier Park, Calif., and Barbara Felton and Shirley Thatcher, both of St. Maries; a brother, Harley Hudgins of Anchorage, Alaska; a sister, Hazel Parks of Meridian, Idaho; 17 grandchildren and 18 greatgrandchildren.

Betty Bagley Wilbur, Wash.

Service for Betty Bagley, 72, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Strate Funeral Home in Wilbur.

Mrs. Bagley, who died Tuesday, was born in Leahy, Wash. She graduated from Wilbur High School and was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Orville Bagley, at the home; two sons, William Bagley of Spokane and Glen Bagley of Okanogan, Wash.; three daughters, Lydia Widmer and Sharon Bostwick, both of Wilbur, and Doris Shore of Spokane; a brother, Ned Scheibner of Wilbur; a sister, Mary Zeiler of Odessa; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the Wilbur Ambulance.

Myrna Ferderer Medical Lake

Graveside service for Myrna Pearl Ferderer, 59, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Pines Mausoleum. Hazen & Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Ferderer died last Thursday. Born in Sebastopol, Calif., she moved to the Spokane area 35 years ago.

She was a meat wrapper at several markets.

Mrs. Ferderer was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and the Meat Wrappers Union.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Orville H. Ferderer, at the home; a son, Orville “Casey” Ferderer of Reardan, Wash.; a daughter, Debbie Robinson of Medical Lake; a brother, Lamar Olson of Australia; numerous grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.

Stella Harrington Spokane

Memorial graveside service for Stella Louise Harrington will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Riverside Memorial Park.

Riplinger Funeral Home is in charge of cremation and arrangements.

Mrs. Harrington, 90, died Monday. Born in Muncie, Ind., she moved to Spokane 88 years ago.

Survivors include a daughter, Billie Jeanne Owenby; six grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three greatgreat-grandchildren.

Pearl M. Maguire Lewiston

Vigil service for Pearl M. (Thibeault) Maguire, 89, will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Spokane followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Maguire, who was born in Washburn, Wis., died Sunday. She moved to Spokane in 1943 and was a licensed practical nurse.

She moved to Lewiston in 1990. She was a member of St. Aloysius Parish and St. Stanislaus Parish in Lewiston.

Survivors include a son, J. Ernest Thibeault of Kent, Wash.; two daughters, Rose Marie Tollber of Benton City, Wash., and Colleen Stevens of Lewiston; three brothers, Walter Bourgo of Spokane, Harvey Bourgo of Cave Junction, Ore., and Joseph Arnold Bourgo of Michigan; 15 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Roxanne Wankmueller Spokane

Service for Roxanne Rose Wankmueller, 9, is planned for 5 p.m. Friday at Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home. A private inurnment will be held.

Roxanne died Sunday in a house fire. Born in Cheyenne, Wyo., she moved to Spokane six years ago.

She was a member of Ridgeview Christian Center and attended Audubon Elementary School.

Survivors include her parents, Joseph and Sharon, two brothers, Zachary and Joseph, and a sister, Lindsey, all of Spokane; and her grandparents and great-grandparents.

David Rotan Coeur d’Alene

Memorial service for David C. Rotan, 80, is planned for 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Lukes Episcopal Church.

Mr. Rotan, who was born in Philadelphia, died Monday. He served in the Army Air Corps and returned to Philadelphia after his discharge.

Mr. Rotan moved to Detroit, Mich., in 1972 and to Coeur d’Alene in 1974. He worked for West One Bank and retired in 1993.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Coeur d’Alene and the Calam Temple of Lewiston and was a former member of the Calam Coppers.

Survivors include his wife, Carol, at the home; two sons, David Rotan of Philadelphia and Dennis Rotan of Claymont, Del.; a stepson, Gary Hagen of Ottertail, Minn.; a daughter, Laura Moore of Claymont; eight grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

Joseph A. Boletti Spokane

Service for Joseph A. “Joe” Boletti, 76, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Riplinger Funeral Home followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Mr. Boletti, who was born in Nelson, British Columbia, died Monday. He moved to Spokane 30 years ago and owned PIP Printing until selling it in 1990.

Mr. Boletti was a member of the Roving Gamblers Motorcycle Club, the Hog Club and the Eagles.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Mafalda “Joey” Boletti, at the home; a daughter, Jolene Jarvis of Spokane; a son, Gary Boletti of Mead; a sister, Olga Simpson of Vancouver, British Columbia; and four grandchildren.

Anna Simmons Spokane

Graveside service for Anna T. Simmons will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Riverside Memorial Park.

Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Simmons, 87, died last Thursday. Born in Whitehall, Mont., she moved to Spokane 65 years ago.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.

Her husband of 46 years, Charles E. Simmons, died in 1976.

Survivors include a son, Charles “Ed” Simmons of Burien, Wash.; and six grandchildren.

Dale Sentman Beavercreek, Ore.

Memorial service for Dale Sentman, 48, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Valley Christian Church in Wilsonville, Ore.

Mr. Sentman died Saturday of cancer. Born in Spokane, he graduated from University High School in 1964.

He married Margie Gordon in 1966 and moved to Beavercreek, Ore., in 1986.

Survivors include his wife, at the home; three daughters, Wendy Needham of Aurora, Ore., Jeanne Sentman of Portland and Kelli Henley of Tigard, Ore.; his mother, Bertha Sentman of Spokane; two brothers, Dan Sentman of St. Charles, Mo., and Glenn Sentman of Spokane; two sisters, Janet Johnson and Patty Shurtlieff, both of Spokane; and three grandsons.

Dennis Schwalm Spokane

Memorial service for Dennis E. Schwalm, 59, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Cheney Funeral Chapel. Cremation preceded the service.

Mr. Schwalm died Tuesday of leukemia. Born in Colorado, he moved to Cheney 29 years ago.

He graduated from the University of Colorado in 1965 with a doctorate in physics. He was a professor of physics at Eastern Washington University.

Mr. Schwalm was a member of Sigma XI honorary society, the U.S. Power Squadron and the American Association of Physics Teachers.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Shirley J. Schwalm, at the home; a daughter, Lisa Fry of Seattle; his mother, Dortha Schwalm of Johnstown, Colo.; a brother, Donal Schwalm of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two sisters, Peggy Collins of Johnstown, Colo., and Jane Eden of Palm Bay, Fla.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

LeRoy Anderson Elk

Service for LeRoy Charles Anderson, 46, a lifetime Newport, Wash., area resident, was Monday at Sherman and Knapp Funeral Home in Newport.

Mr. Anderson, who collapsed at work, died Thursday. He had been a foreman for the Pend Oreille County Road District for 28 years.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the Pend Oreille County Rodeo Association and the Diamond Lake Grange.

Survivors include a daughter, Shelbie Anderson, at the home; a son, Roy Anderson, at the home; a brother, Sonny Anderson of Elk; and three sisters, Helen Anderson of Chewelah, Wash., Sharon Ryan of Tacoma and Margaret Perry of Elk.

Edward Allen Spokane

No service is planned for Edward James Allen, a lifetime Spokane resident, at his request. A private cremation was held.

Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Allen, 79, died Friday.

He served as a radio operator in the Merchant Marine during World War II.

Mr. Allen was a volunteer for Senior Volunteers of the Spokane Police Department for more than five years and was active in coaching for the Metro Softball Association. He was an amateur radio operator and a member of the Spokane Rifle Club and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 51 years, Ruth Annabelle Allen, at the home; two sons, Robert Allen of Walnut, Calif., and Victor Allen of Spokane; a brother, Frank Brice of Coulee Dam; and four grandchildren.

Wilma Burnett Potlatch, Idaho

Service for Wilma R. Burnett was Tuesday at Kramer Funeral Home in Palouse, Wash., and was followed by burial at Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse.

Mrs. Burnett, 80, died last Thursday. Born in Ritzville, she attended grade school in Ewan, Wash., and graduated from St. John High School in 1932.

She married Otis Albert “Bus” Burnett in 1933 and they made their home near Palouse, where they farmed.

The Burnetts later moved to Farmington, Wash., where they lived for several years. They also lived in Tekoa and Oakesdale, Wash.

In 1958 They moved to Potlatch, where they farmed in the Rock Creek area south of town.

Mr. Burnett died in 1968.

Mrs. Burnett then worked as a custodian for the Potlatch Elementary School for six years and also worked in the laundry department at Gritman Hospital in Moscow for one year. She retired in the late 1970s.

She was a member of the Rock Creek Club.

Survivors include two sons, Larry Burnett of Potlatch and Jerry Burnett of Palouse; three daughters, Patricia Taylor of Palouse, Susan Klinke of Steptoe, Wash., and Bonnie Anthonijsz of Alta Loma, Calif.; a sister, Wanda Lazelle of Potlatch; 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Palouse Emergency Medical Technicians or to the Home Health and Hospice of Southeast Washington, Pullman.

Rose Marie Batchelor Bothell, Wash.

Rosary and Mass were held Tuesday for Rose Marie Batchelor, 90, in Bothell. Burial will be Friday in San Diego. Bothell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Batchelor, who was born in Nakoosa, Wis., died Friday.

She was an accountant for Ben Cohen Jewelers. Her husband, Louis A. Batchelor, retired as advertising director of The Spokesman-Review and Spokane Chronicle.

Mr. Batchelor preceded her in death and she moved to Bothell in 1990.

She was a member of the Spokane Garden Club, the Finch Arboretum and was a proponent of the Civic Light Opera. She also was a member of the Senior Center.

Survivors include a daughter, Joan Marie; two sons, George Robert and James Louis; a brother, John Wayerski of Bothell; a sister, Dorothy Huber of Bothell; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Rita Hamilton Spokane

Graveside service for Rita L. Hamilton, 53, a nurse’s aide, was held Wednesday at Greenwood Memorial Terrace.

Ball and Dodd Funeral Home South was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hamilton died Dec. 28. Born in Idaho, she moved to Spokane as a child.

Survivors include two daughters, Melinee Wyatt and Angela Clark, both of Spokane; three sisters, Charlene Arnold, Joyce Deats and Kathy Talverson, all of Spokane; three brothers, Maril, Jerry and Marty Bill, all of Spokane; four grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Edward Vaillancourt Spokane

The rosary was said Tuesday for Edward Vaillancourt at Ball & Dodd Funeral Home North. Funeral Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ball and Dodd Funeral Home North followed by burial at Fairmount Memorial Park.

Mr. Vaillancourt, 81, died Saturday. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he worked as a carpenter.

He owned and operated a custom picture frame business in California, before retiring in 1973.

Mr. Vaillancourt moved to Rathdrum, Idaho, later that year and moved to Spokane in 1988.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Frances Vaillancourt, at the home; three sons, Brian Vaillancourt of Yakima, Ted Vaillancourt of Spokane and Kevin Vaillancourt of Medical Lake; two daughters, Anne Vaillancourt of Spokane and Julie Jacobs of Medical Lake; 14 grandchildren and 13 greatgrandchildren.
