The all-women’s America3 syndicate won the first race of the America’s Cup defense trials, beating Team Dennis Conner by 1 minute, 9 seconds.

Conner, sailing his brand new Stars & Stripes yacht, was favored to win, but the women led from the start and were never challenged.
