Legends Get Battered
It was not a good night for past and present champions at the National Western Stock Show Rodeo Sunday at Denver as current all-around world champion Ty Murray’s saddle bronc ride failed to place him in the go-round.
Murray scored a 65 in his saddle bronc riding, not good enough to make the cut. Murray did better in his bull ride with 70 points that tied him for third place.
Two other former saddle bronc world champions, Robert and Bill Etbauer, also failed to make the go-round in their Sunday rides.
Robert, from Goodwell, Okla., was world champion saddle bronc rider in 1990 and 1991, while brother Billy, of Ree Heights, S.D., was champ in 1992.
Murray and the Etbauers will ride again in Wednesday’s performance for another shot at the money.
