Marana Fired

Mark Marana, whose Northern Michigan football team completed its best season in four years, was fired soon after returning from a three-week recruiting trip.

Athletic director Rick Comley and university president William Vandament made the decision to dismiss the coach and his top assistants late last week.

Comley said Marana had worked “tremendously hard” but had taken the program “as far as he can.”
