Body Identified As Missing Girl’s

From Staff Reports

Investigators have identified the body of a child found in a shallow grave near Tonasket as Penny Lynn Davis, the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office said.

Davis, a 9-year-old girl from Aeneas Valley, disappeared from her home on Sept. 17. The remains were found March 28 in a shallow grave in McLoughlin Canyon, about five miles south of Tonasket.

The body was discovered after hikers told authorities that they’d found a piece of human jawbone in an area of mixed woods and sagebrush.

Authorities identified the girl by matching her DNA to her mother, Dana Davis. No one has been arrested in her disappearance.
