Serena’s Song, the queen of the fillies, may have run one race too many. She showed it in the homestretch at Belmont Park when she was run down and defeated by Golden Bri by 1-1/2-lengths in the $250,000 Coaching Club American Oaks, a race billed as a milestone on her path to the filly title at Elmont, N.Y.

West Valley City, Utah, has made an agreement to bring the Denver Grizzlies hockey team to Utah, but the Salt Lake suburb first wants a $7 million commitment from Olympics organizers for an ice arena. City officials unveiled a proposal for a 10,000-seat hockey arena, the last venue that needs to be built for the 2002 Winter Olympics.
