Service Denied Access To River
Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and before you know it he’s bringing all his friends and messing up the river.
That was the reasoning of the Franklin County Commission Monday as it recommended denial of a walk and wade permit for Bear River Outfitters, a new fishing guide service that wants to take fishermen along the Bear River, from the Utah border to Bear Lake.
“The commission felt that the river is already saturated with fishermen,” Franklin County Clerk Elliott Larsen said. “If they teach people how to fish, they’ll come back and bring their friends.”
The Idaho Outfitters Licensing Association will have the final say on the permit application.
