Gte Says Radio Station Didn’t Cause Overload

From Staff And Wire Reports

GTE officials say a Moscow radio station’s daily music trivia contest does not cause an overload of their telephone system, but they are unsure where the problem originates.

Fixing the blame was not the purpose of Wednesday’s public meeting in Moscow, GTE’s Leroy Bentley told about 30 people.

When the network gets overloaded, customers endure long delays for dial tones. GTE first pointed a finger at KZFN’s call-in contests, but delays have continued to occur when “Z-FUN” has not been running its daily contest.

There was an overload July 6 when a storm swept through the area, and the Latah County Sheriff’s Department had trouble getting a dial tone.
