Olympics Clears Dream

Compiled From Wire Services

Hakeem Olajuwon, two-time MVP of the NBA Finals, was cleared to represent the United States in next year’s Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Olajuwon, a naturalized U.S. citizen, had to receive special permission from FIBA, the sport’s international governing body, to be eligible for Dream Team III because the Houston Rockets center competed in an international tournament for his native Nigeria as a teen-ager.

The Seattle SuperSonics will play the Los Angeles Lakers to open their 1995-96 home season Nov. 4 and inaugurate their new home court at KeyArena, a remodeled Seattle Coliseum.

The Sonics open the season on the road a day earlier against the Utah Jazz.

The expansion Vancouver Grizzlies make their first of two visits to Seattle on Nov. 11. In solo visits, it’s the Bulls on Nov. 26, the expansion Toronto Raptors on Dec. 5 and Orlando on March 13.
