UI Takes Second Place In Advertising Contest
The University of Idaho Student Advertising Club took second place at the 1995 National Student Advertising Competition in Tampa, Fla. The student team was the first from Idaho to win the annual regional event.
During competition, the UI team presented a proposal as if it were an ad agency attempting to win a national account. The team’s presentation included four fully produced TV commercials, 10 fullcolor magazine ads, a radio spot, and public relations and promotional programs. The Chrysler Corp. will send the top four winners to its offices in Detroit, Mich., to make their presentations.
Inland Northwest team members are Barbara Corman of Moscow, Idaho, and Brad Moeller of Spokane.
Team faculty advisers are Mark Secrist and Tom Jenness of UI’s School of Communication.
Nicole Stevens, a second-year master of fine arts student at the University of Idaho, is this year’s winner of the Kennedy Center/ American College Theatre Festival Award for Costume Design Excellence.
Stevens won the national event for her costume designs in the production of “Dancing at Lughnasa.” The win earns her a $100 honorarium and a one-week, all-expense-paid trip to New York City to meet with designers at costume shops and design studios.
She is the university’s first costume designer to win the national event. Other Inland Northwest competing students were Stephanie Miller, Moscow, Idaho, and Carey Gibbar, Lewiston.
