Hedeman Takes Title
Tuff Hedeman put some tough memories to rest at the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo.
The popular cowboy won the bull riding championship that had always eluded him at Cheyenne, where his best friend and rodeo’s bright star Lane Frost was killed by a bull in 1990.
Hedeman, of Bowie, Texas, scored an 82 on a spinning and bucking bull to place him second in the final go-round. Combined with a leading 159 score on two bulls in the first two rounds, his 241 total earned him a championship paycheck of $7,697 and a total of about $14,000 for the nine days.
