Sampson Cool On Heat

Oklahoma’s Kelvin Sampson became the second college coach to publicly reject overtures from the Miami Heat when he declined an interview offer for the coaching vacancy.

Sampson, 23-8 in his inaugural season with the Sooners, joins Massachusetts coach John Calipari as college candidates to spurn the Heat. Sampson’s previous job was at Washington State.

UCLA’s men and Connecticut’s women, NCAA champions in basketball, will travel to Washington, D.C., to be honored by President Clinton at the White House on Friday.

Treg Lee, a forward for Ohio State from 1988-91, has pleaded guilty to a felony drug abuse charge in Columbus.
