Farm Recreation Big Business In Idaho

Farm and ranch recreation in Idaho generates over $10.2 million in annual gross revenue.

The Idaho Department of Agriculture has identified 60 farms and ranches that offer recreational services to tourists. Services range from horseback rides and sleigh/ wagon rides to hunting, fishing and cross-country skiing.

A farm and ranch recreation business impact survey sponsored by the Idaho Department of Agriculture and analyzed by RLS International of Cheyenne, Wyo., indicates a rapidly growing interest in ranch recreation.

With travelers seeking out authentic western-style experiences in increasing numbers, industry growth is expected to continue.

The research revealed that operations range greatly in size from 13 acres to 22,000 acres.
