Lead Shared At Seniors

At Alpharetta, Ga., Bruce Summerhays and Larry Laoretti, a pair of former club pros, birdied the final hole to share the lead after the second round of the Senior PGA Nationwide Championship.

Summerhays, the first-round leader with a courserecord 63, shot a 71 and Laoretti a 68. Both are at 10-under-par 134 on the hilly 6,777-yard Lakeside Course at the Country Club of Georgia.

At Somers Point, N.J., Michele Redman shot her second 68 and Michelle Estill had a 69 to share the lead after two rounds of the $650,000 ShopRite LPGA Classic. They completed two rounds at 136, 6-under- par at Greate Bay Resort and Country Club. Tracy Hanson of Rathdrum, Idaho, failed to makes the cut. Robin Walton of Clarkston was a two-day total of 144.

At Colts Neck, N.J., Jo Jo Robertson, following in the footsteps of a Hall of Famer from her hometown, won two matches to advance to the title match of the U.S. Women’s Public Links championship. Robertson, 19, is from from Roswell, N.M., the same town from which Nancy Lopez emerged two decades ago.

Spokane’s Britney Holt and her mother, Marcy, also competed but did not reach the quarterfinal round.
