Gold Cup Purse Increases

Cigar and Concern will run in Sunday’s Hollywood Gold Cup, according to their trainers, meaning the value of the race at Hollywood Park in Inglewood, Calif., will increase from $750,000 to $1 million.

Cigar, who has won eight straight races, is ranked No. 1 and Concern No. 2 in the latest Thoroughbred Racing Communications poll.

It had been announced June 19 that if Cigar and Concern both ran, the purse would be increased.
